| my parakeet is not trained but i want to clean its cage..............where can i put my bird until im done cleaning the cage? |

| when I had mine it wasn't trained either. My cage had a removeable bottom... not sure what kind you have. But I would set newspaper down then set the bottomless cage on that then clean out the bottom...replace bottom of bird cage with new newspaper and put the top of the cage back on. I also took out all the "toys" perches, food and water dishes and cleaned all those at the same time. The bird would remain in the top of the cage while I did all of the above. I would also put a bowl on the paper that the cage was on while I cleaned the other part in hopes that the bird would take a bath....mine usually didn't want to take a bath but I put the bowl in there just incase he wanted to. |

When lining the cage with newspaper make sure its just black and white as colour newspaper has toxins which are very harmful for birds if they rip it up.
Its always adviced to line with either plain paper or if possible plain woodshavings.
I use wood shavings when my birds are breeding and plain paper when they are not....

what I did with sky was this I took the cage off of the bottom making sure she was on a pearch inside of the cage & places It on a counter this way I cleaned the bottom of the cage & when it came time to clean the cage itself I just let her out for some free flying time
