Do feathers grow back?

Hello,

I have a 1 and a half year red belly parrot and today he jumped off his cage and 5 of his back tail feathers fell out. Will they ever grow back?

Last month he lost just one back feature and it never grew back..

Hi sounds like your bird is molting and yes they do grow back the only time feathers usually fall out is when they are molting which is when they old feathers are replaced with new ones.

Providing the bird is not stressed or sick in anyway then you need not worry as the molting process is normal in all birds.

Yeah they will grow back but if you have an African Gray Parrot make sure he doesn't pick up the habit of feather plucking!
