PostPosted: Mon Jun 28, 2004 4:46 pm    Post subject: Milo has passed on Reply with quote

My big boy Milo had to be put down last night. He was diagnosed with a large tumor in his lungs on Memorial Day weekend and last night his already congested breathing turned into labored panting.

When I came home I found him on my bed, a place he never hangs out. I called my nephew, whom I live with and who has had Milo since he was 6 years old. He told me that Milo had been hanging out on his bed that day too. My nephew room is on the far end of the house and down a flight of stairs into the basement. Milo never goes down there. We both felt this was Milo's way of telling us it was time.

My sister and I brought him to a wonderful, caring place where we were able to be with him as he peacefully moved on.

What an awesome cat he was. 21 pounds of pure love. He would purr immediately on contact and he had the loudest purr I've ever heard. He enjoyed back massages and would push his front paws into something to make you massage harder. He enjoyed tanning in the flower garden but especially loved rolling around in the catnip plant. He was a good buddy to Cubby, Yoda, Wrigley, and Kitt and they will miss him terribly.

This morning has been so difficult. I haven't stopped crying since I stepped foot out of bed. Breakfast just wasn't the same without him here.

Can someone please post for me the poem that I have read here before about animals that have passed on.

Thank you all for listening and for all your help and caring words over the past few months.

Megan

I'm so sorry wtpooh! My thoughts are with during this horrible time. At least you were with him when he went. He is out of pain now.

Here's a link to a rainbow bridge page:
http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html

edit: here's the text version of the poem:

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Wtpooh, I'm so sorry about Milo and what you are going through right now. I can't stop crying either for you and Milo. I also have a Milo and his sister Venus passed on almost 1 year ago. I haven't cried for her yet, I'm still in shock. Hang tough and remember all the good times you shared with him.

I'm sorry to hear it. Hopefully he's sunning himself happily in the place he moved on to.

Wtpooh. I am so sorry for your loss. Crying or Very sad I know exactly how you are feeling right now. I lost my best pal Handsome on May 19th. I feel your loss and your pain. It's really tough. The only advice I can give you is just to cry and let it all out. I cried for a week straight. Hang in there. We are all here for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Milo. You should take comfort in knowing that you did all you could and you were with him at the end. Sad
