bloody stool question

I was wondering if anyone's dog had blood in their stool at any time and what could have caused it. My vet says its food sensitivity...but i am not sure. He said his white cells are high but there is no infection.
We are thinking it might be the little yogurt treats or something else in his diet. He eats Advanced Pet Diet and Annova dry foods.
Any thoughts would greatly help!!

Im sorry about your dog, I hope he feels better soon...I have not had this problem with my dog but my cat did that once because she was straining...do you give him bones or anything? I'm sorry I cant be more helpful Smile

There are several reasons a dog can have alittle blood in the stool .worms (espically whips ) ask your vet about worming with maybe drontal plus ,coccidia can cause it and a gut infection are amoung some of the most common causes .

Yep, there are lots of reasons for this. What color is the blood? Red or black?

My dog does this, the vet checked her for other stuff and we determined she has ulcers.

Offhand I'm not familiar with that food, but if it has any dye in it, or if any dyed treats have been given, the stool color may fool you into thinking it's blood.

That is true too .Store bought treats can and do cause the stool to look different .

My Graysie had a problem with blood in the stool a couple of months ago and I really panicked. Turns out, she had colitis (she has a very sensitive stomach). She was given a shot of antibiotics and a blander food to eat for a few days. She's fine now! One thing I learned - blood in a dog's stool is not the same as it is for humans. It doesn't always mean something very serious.

I want to thank everyone for all your great responses…The website that elizavixen suggested was very useful. As I had mentioned the Dr. seems to think that it’s food sensitivity…but I think that we figured out what it might be. Calvin(our Maltipoo) loves his daddy’s flip flop thongs…we let him gnaw on them and I think that he has been ingesting black rubber amongst other things like the toilet paper cardboard and carpet. He chews EVERYTHING he can get his little mouth on. I thought it would be fine for him to chew things…but I didn’t t realize he is actually swallowing some of it. Saturday and Sunday he was feeling better…but today he started throwing up…he was out in the backyard with my hubby yesterday…and I think (from what came up) he ate some grass.
I will keep all the other options of what it could be in mind…maybe he does have a case of Colitis or ulcer. All I know is that it hurts to see my little baby sick ~ Crying or Very sad

Has the vet given any antibiotics or other medications ? Does he think just the food ? Yep ...grass will make them thow up .
