OK, my cockatiel baby is 12 days old..

As the baby gets older, are the parents not in the nest box as much as they were before? When I check on the baby (I just creak the door to the room and take a peek), both parents are out of the nest box. Is this a cause of concern? His crop is nice and full from when I just checked.

Thanks!

HI no this is perfectly normal for the parents to spend less time in the nest as the chicks get older.

Nost breeders will actually remove the chicks at 2weeks old and hand feed until they are weaned.

Aslong as the chick is being fed then i would just eave them to it unless you are wanting to hand feed.

Hi they grow very fast i hand raised mine from 3days old and even though it was hard work it was worth it to see him with all his feathers and flying around.

Good luck with the little one
