I have a male betta and he has been all by his lonesome for almost 2 years now. I didn't know if anyone had tried adding just one male betta into a tank with other fish. I know that they can't be with other bettas, but I wasn't sure how he would do with danios and gouramis. I probably won't add this male in since he is older, but I was thinking of buying another to add if it would not be fishicide for anyone.

I have a male betta in with my zebra danios, one lone guppie and 2 ADF's. I have no problem with any of them. I added my betta last so he wouldnt establish his territory. I wouldn't add them with fish that have long fins, like male guppies casue they will usually attack. If your worried that your betta is lonley try adding an African Dwarf Frog with him. they are fun to watcha nd usually get along with bettas.

Careful Mate, Bettas got personality that makes each one very unpredictable. I got 3 Bettas, 1 of them goes crazy when he sees a gourami, another one which is in the communitu tank is doing happily with gouramis, guppies, danios and neons. I tested each of my bettas by floating them when they were in their bags and monitored it while it was release into the tank. Surprised

My tank is 45g. Thank you for all of the advice. I am going to wait until the tank clears since it is cloudy and then I will slowly add in the betta.
