Hi FMgurl. I'm sorry about your mom's kitty. Where exactly is the hair loss on the body? Also has anyone seen her itch that area or lick this area?

I am not sure if this is what your moms cat has. But I had a cat once who had a place on the bottom of its neck something like you are talking about. My mom said it was a wool or at least that's what she called it. She said that they are some sort of a worm and it came out of her skin. I was about 12 or so, so I don't know if she had taken my cat prissy to the vet to find this out or what. It's just a suggestion you may want to look that up on the internet and read up on it.

thanks ill look that up... the hair is missing on her back end by her tail and under her tummy... but she smells under her neck but she is not missing hair there just in the other 2 spots.... no one has seen her itch at it at all and sassy follows my mom everywhere like her brother garfield does me so they r w/ us all the time when we r home anyways.....

I would have your parents try and get her to see the vet sooner than mid June. I would post more info, but I really need to get some sleep now. Did your parents say if she was licking the area?

i wonder if it could be a food allergy? usually that shows up on the skin. but i dont know why it would have a foul oder. sounds like maybe there is infection in there. dont wanna mess around with that. i agree...probably need to be seen asap. i dont know...but if i had to wait that long to get my kitty in, i might look for another vet that has more flexible hours. i take max to a cats only vet. he is usally really busy, but i always get in within 24 hours, and sooner if it is an emergency. just a thought.

my mom has went to this vet 4 almost 10 years now and hes the only one she trusts she says... soooo if it was my cat i wuld take her to a different one but its not really in my hands... the smell has went away... and i just noticed that tonight when i was feedng them that i switched their wet food bout a month ago to a different brand and that that may be whats wrong sooo im gonna go back to buying the 9 lives wet which is what they were on since they could eat food and see what happens while we wait on the appt.... hopefully thats all it is... i did see her scratching yesterday on her back and belly but its nothing worse then her normal grooming but she just paid a lil more attentioon to those areas....thanks 4 all the info...
