help!

Hi everyone. PLease help me with my problem. I just bought the most adorable little Maltese named bianca. She is 3 months old and she weighs 3 pounds. I know that she will be around 5and half when she is full grown. Right? Well, I intended to get a smaller dog. one that full grown will be no more than 4. But I am too attached to her now caus she is so sweet and lovely. Any advise?

I'm not sure what kind of advice your looking for but this is one really good reason that its important to research the breeds your interested before getting one. She will still be a small dog and I'm sure you will get even more attatched as she grows and then it probably won't bother you one bit that she is a little bigger than you original wanted.

I must say I agree with nern, I am slightly confused as to what advice you are seeking!? The full grown weight of your Maltese is highly dependent on several factors, one specifically being her parents' size. However, there are no guarantees!

She'll still be her same wonderful self whether she is 4 lbs. or more...love her no matter what her weight might end up being!!!

I must say I agree with the above posts .I do not know what advice you seek except if you are wanting to get rid of her to get a smaller dog .
I don't see the reasoning in it .The smaller they are ,more apt to have health problems ,you are better off with one that weighs more .Breeding down in size usually means breeding runt to runt and inbreeding ...more genetic defects ,less life expectancy .The Maltese was never a 4 lb dog until people started breeding down in size .we have all these genetic problems and people still want the ones that have the most defects ,less life to live for what reason ? So they can put it in a purse ? Oh well .....
I say take her and love her for a more healthy dog she will be and healthy is happy and so will you and your purse (vet bills ) be .

Bianca, 5 .5 lbs is not very big. I have a Yorkie that size. Just love her and take good care of her. The best feeling is when your dog loves you back.

Man I just love all these new parents with maltese puppies!! No offense to anyone else I love all dogs regardless!! Anyway...

I can understand if you wanted a dog that is going to stay small, especially if you're living in a apt. like we are. I also have a maltese baby, 3 months old. They say with maltese's at 10wks at their size and weight if your double it, that is what they'll be full grown. For instance at ten weeks Riley was 2.5 lbs, full grown supposingly he'll be 5lbs. We'll see he's a male Compared to a yorkie your baby may seem big but 5lbs is still really little when you consider most dogs are 15lbs+. But you're right once you've gotta your maltese you've fallen in love and its too late. There is no way I could ever give my Riley away now, he's my child. Your love for your puppy has just started give it time and the weight and size issue will dissapear completely I'm sure of it Wait til' you see her little personality come out after she gets use to her new home, its actually really exciting to see them develope into their own little personality.

Give it time, your love will surpass any doubts!
