Patches had a little set back....

Well had a bit of a scare this morning..... Patches licks her tummy raw about every 3-5 months then lets it heal then does it again.... In the past I've given her antibiotics she stops and lets it heal. Well the last time she did it she didn't tolerate the clavamox very well but it was effective....

Well she has really been going at her belly as of late and so I thought that I would try the clavamox but only a 1/4 of the tab.... just wanted to try and see if I could help her...... Crying or Very sad

Well.... when we got up this am she was lethargic and then once off the bed she started puking white foam she did this for about 15 min.... Sad

I feel and felt absolutely horrible!! She started panting (from not getting rest breaks from puking). And was warm to the touch... Poor thing she was worn out and miserable....

So knowing that she has some kidney issues I decided that I had to get some fluids in her and quickly... There was no keeping it in her belly at the time so my only other option was to give it subq. (I give Buster his hormone shots so I have needles and syringes). After giving her approx 50ccs she started to complain when I was doing it so I gave her some time to see what happens.

After an hour of wondering how she would recover she came out of the bedroom looked at me and meowed... Mr. Green

I picked her up and she was purring soo loud.... I offered her some soft food and she gobbled it up. Surprised

Relief!!! That was soo scary well now I know that she can't tolerate even alittle Clavamox. It is so hard when you only want to help your fur baby and when what you do makes them feel worse instead of better.... that just ki**ed me.

She has spent the day at the top of the cat condo (Harley knows she doesn't feel good and has let her be most of the day... Good boy!) And now she is on Buster's bed all curled up napping.. She has eaten several times today thankfully she recovered from me trying to help her....

Poor thing. I'm glad she is okay now. It is hard sometimes to know how to help our kitties.

She is better this am she ate some food but not all of it. Surprised

She only licks her bottom two nipples why I'm not entirely sure vet seems to think that they itch or something. Then she gets into a rut and just goes to town.... Usually antibiotics help but she has had so many different ones she gets a tolerance built up because she does it so often. She has done this since about age 5. If I can distract her when she does it long enough she will forget and they will heal up to the point she stops....

It was soooooooo scary!!!! I was really nervous she looked horrible! I felt sooooo bad I just wanted to help her.......

When I brought Kyrre to the vet for his hairloss on one shoulder, the vet said it was because he was licking himself too much. He also said cats lick themself to calm down when they're stressed, and if this behaviour isn't caught early, it could develop into a bad habit. Maybe that's whats happend to Patches?

Does she have eczema or seasonal allergies? The excess sweat and pollen can make people and pets very itchy. I'm so glad she is doing better. That was very scary.

looks like Patches is back to normal from before the clavamox now.... Thank heavens!! She ate good and she looks lively and spunky again.... Surprised

She looked so horrible I thought that I was going to have to take her to the ER!!! luckly its just mins away from where I live. I am soo glad that she is doing good again.
