what have you done to decorate

I would love to find out what others have done to decorate your tanks. I'm looking for some new fresh ideas for hiding/resting places for your fish. I have African Cichlids and they love hiding places, and I'm just curious what other's do.

I love to decorate my guppy's tanks and I have some fantastic ideas for you.

I have alot of fake plants in my fish tank and my fish absolutly love it. I'm also thinking about getting some hiding rocks with plants on them. They look awesome!

Another thing I like to do is go online at petsmart or petco and look at all the decor they have for your fish tanks! It's absolutly amazing what all they have! I want it all! I'm addicting to looking at their website.

Thank you for responding.... I have tried to get some responses from folks here but looks like most just read the posts.....

With Africans you have to give them lots of places to hide/sleep because they get territorial and will pick on the weaker ones so if they can get away and avoid the chase they do better....

I have a lot of fake plants in there because when they sleep at night they often wedge themselves in the plants so they don't have to use their fins..... (that's what they look like in the morning when I turn the light back on anyways...) most of those are stuck in the gravel but I do have one that sticks to the back of the tank and that one I have up higher (to give a high hiding spot).

They also have lots of plastic hollow logs and a tall fake tree stump (from petsmart) and also a shipreck piece...

I've also got a decorative background so to "hide" them or at least give them the feeling of hiding or blending into the background foliage..

Also with these guys (especially when they get bigger) they are diggers so I have more gravel in there than normal..

thanks for your suggestions I'll have to get onto their site... or better yet I have to go tomorrow for misc supplies for the dog, and cats anyways.. I'll have to see what else they have.

Cut PVC pipes make easy hiding spots and are fairly cheap too, you can even use them to build a cave. It's also pretty easy to cover them in gravel to conceal the pipe.

I recently helped a friend make a background cave for her Cichlid tank using Styrofoam and concrete. The only problem is you have to do frequent water changes and wait for the PH level to come back to normal before adding fish because the concrete will cause the PH level of your tank to rise.

That was a great site thanks! I'll have to try the PVC cave idea. They have lots of places to hide now but I like changing it up to keep them from getting too territorial...
