Thank you everyone for your support and well wishes! Crying or Very sad

We put Pumpkin to sleep last night. She left us around 7PM. She just layed her head down and that was it. We all said our final good-byes and Andrew made sure we went to the market to pick up Crysanthemum for her. We are going to bury her in our yard today next to Vene. It's raining hard so maybe when it lets up a bit.

It felt like a full circle in the vet's office. We saw a picture of a little girl holding an orange kitten. The kitten's name was Pumpkin and the little girl's name was my first name. It was surreal.

Bente and Kyrre, Drew appreciates your hugs very much. He kept crying and said he didn't want Pumpkin to die. He stopped crying after I told him she's going to kitty heaven where she'll be with Vene and chase after butterflies and her favorite birds and mice. He spent all day searching for kitty heaven. I told him he might find it in his dreams and he was ok with that.

I don't want to remember her being sickly and weak at the end. I want to see her as the vibrant, lively, and loving kitty that she was. I regret putting her to sleep so late. It was selfish on my part but it was so difficult to let her go. She stopped eating for a few days and finally she stopped drinking water and I knew I couldn't leave her alone. It was her time.

I love you Pumpkin! Crying or Very sad

That was so sweet of your son to want to get a flower for Pumpkin and a very cute and touching story of him looking all day for kitty heaven.

It is very hard to let our kitties go. We probably hung on to our kitty Smokey longer than we should have. It's hard to know when it is the right time. You did the right thing by following your instincts.

When we let Smokey go, a sudden feeling came over me that he was not in pain anymore and happy in his new place.

That is a cute picture of Pumpkin. She surely is happy in kitty heaven. Rest in peace, Pumpkin.

I love that picture of Pumpkin. You will remember the end of her life less and less as time goes, and begin only remembering the good things. She was much loved and she knew it. Our thoughts are with your family right now and in the coming days. Give all the your kids and fur kids big hugs from my family.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. It means alot to me.

The furkids were ok with her passing Bellack. We showed her body to all of them so that they would know she was gone. We made the mistake of not doing that with Vene's body in 2003 and Monty went out looking for her 3 days in a row. He is a chicken cat and never ventured outdoors on his own before. Monty sniffed Pumpkin and walked away. Rene sniffed her, got scared and ran halfway down the basement stairs. The basement has always been her comfort zone. Milo was the last to sniff her. He hissed. Monty came back to see what was going on and Milo hissed again at Monty. I think Milo took it the hardest because he was extra needy after her passing. But he wasn't depressed like he was when his sister Vene passed away. I remember back then, he stayed on his scratching post for 3 days most of the time and was always sleeping and sad. This time, Pumpkin was sick and they all knew something was up.

We laid her to rest around 7:35PM after my husband came home from work. The kids helped me dig a hole earlier in the day. They each threw in a crysanthemum flower on top of Pumpkin's coffin and helped covering her up. We all said our final good-byes.

Thank you Halaroo. We are doing well. The furkids are very needy as expected. Andrew will shed a tear or 2 everyday. I've lost a few pounds and some sleep but we are coping well. I thought I saw her in the glass door in the sunroom last night for a split second except she looked plump and healthy, unlike the sick, weak, and scrawny cat that she was. Maybe it was just my wishful thinking or a neighbor's cat walked by. We all miss her terribly.

Thank you Kathy! Hugs back! I remember Taz and I'm still very fond of him. I too think of him often. And your Emily reminds me alot of Vene too. I have wonderful memories of Pumpkin who followed me from Syracuse to CT, then NY. She was a very special kitty.

Pumpkin is very luck to have such an attentive and caring mom. There is a special place in heaven for loving people like you. I don't know Pumpkin but hug her for me.

Thank you Mary. Pumpkin's pawprints ornament came in the mail yesterday afernoon from our vet's office. It broke my heart all over again. It will be lovingly placed on our Christmas tree this year. My 2 year old daughter reminds me every other day and says Pumpkin dead, doctor's office. It's amazing that they remember so much. Crying or Very sad
