I have a question about powerheads. I have 2 aquaclear 802 powerheads
that used to be hooked up to airlift tubes when I was using an undergravel
filter. I got rid of the undergravel filter plates, and was wondering if the powerheads can now be just used for water circulation? I know there are strainer plates covering the impeller chamber, but I'm afraid my smaller fish could get s**k up against the strainer plates. If I can't use the powerheads, what can I use for extra water circulation?

You could probably put a foam pre-filter on the intake. That should disperse the in-going current enough so that little fish don't get s**k up.
