Just yesterday I had to put down one of my cats. Her name was Kitty. We had taken her to the vet about a month ago because she was very very sick. With some antibiotics and a new prescription food she seemed to do better. This past week though, she got worse than she was before.

I'm not really sad about her passing, I know when we first got her, she was a very skinny, skittish adult cat. She had been abused previously and we took her in because she seemed happier with me around. Her entire personality changed after that and I know she was happy in the time she spent with us. She also left us several children to remember her by.

I'm mostly posting this because it was my first experience putting a pet down. I stayed in the room with her because I felt it wrong to leave her in the hands of strangers. I wanted the last thing she saw to be me. It was so quick though, I was petting her before I realized it was over.

Share your stories and memories with previous pets. Not the sad ones, but the good ones (:

I'm so sorry about your kitty. Crying or Very sad

I've had to have kitties put down but could not stay with them during it.
I wish so bad I could have stayed but it was too upsetting. I admire that you were able to stay with Kitty.

I'm sorry for your loss. At least she is no longer suffering. All of my stories about losing my fur animals are all sad, so I won't post them. I just loved them all so much and they were all a huge loss for me. Especially my best pal Handsome. Sad
