I found this in an archive of info I had when I first got Harley. I like it, thought I'd share with you.

I think a lot of people mis read their dogs language. Instead of allowing them to let their dog give proper warning signals, they are made to stop, sometimes causing more issues later on because the full message was not received.

I took this test twice.

Sorry about the double post!!!!!! I didn't miss any on the quiz, I do think everyone should take it b/c people misunderstand animals body language.

That's really a neat an imformative site. I missed the "Angry-Self confident" and the "Angry-Unsure." When I worked in the vet clinic and a dog was baring his teeth and the ears down, I could have sworn he was ready to launch. That's when we got the rabies noose out. Too bad they didn't have this when I was in school.

Great site!! As a dog rescuer I often don't know a dog's past, so I am never sure how these guys are going to react to certain things. Body language is often the only warning you get to back off or slow things down. I passed the link along to several other rescuers. I got two wrong-so I learned something today! Wink

I missed the second one... "Friendly"... I always thought that pulled back lips was a sign of fear but I can see it as a sign of freindly submissiveness.

The pics of the dogs ready to bite are good indicators to let you know WHY a dog is biting. A dog biting out of fear will have their ears back in the "unsure" mode... Where a dog biting with self confidence in a defensive nature (not fear) will have ears up.

Lovesdapits You were prolly right that the dog you saw with ears back was ready to launch but the real issue was WHY the dog was ready to launch...based on his ears being back he was ready to launch because he had no where else to go and was fearfull.... Instead of saying "Angry" the site should have said "Ready to Bite and confident" and Ready to Bite and unsure or fearfull"... JMO
