check your local tack shop, a lot of barns will put ads up for lessons, as well as boarding, training and sales

a tack shop is like a supermarket for horses. a place where you can buy gear...saddles, bridles, halters, blankets, accessories, etc. Most tack shops have a bulletin board for sales, training, lessons, etc. If you can find a tack shop or two in your area, you can get a lot of information from there.

I have a riding instructor in Michigan who gives riding lessons on your horse. She comes to my barn, but you can also trailer your horse into her barn for riding lessons. She is near Jackson, Michigan. I really like her, she has helped me and my horse a lot.
She has a website you can check out.
Her website is:

The problem with checking the phone book is that advertisers have to pay to put their info in the yellow pages, and some choose not to.

Another option would be to contact your local county extension service for contact information for local 4-H clubs. Those folks can help you find a good stable and instructor.
