Blood in the litterbox...

I just found a little blood in one of the two litterboxes in my appartment... It looks slimy, and the stool next to it looks very soft. Does anyone know if this could be something serious? The vet is closed, but I'm going to call them and hopefully get an appointment first thing tomorrow.

I'm suspecting it is Buster, because he never covers after hes been "to the toilet", and this was in "his" box and all out in the open. He is not acting like he is in pain though, he is peeing, sleeping and begging for food whenever I'm in the kitchen, as always.

one of my current fosters recently had this and the pooh was STINKY!!!
it was deemed to be either hookworm or coccadia. I had to treat with Albon and all is well

One of my cats had this a few weeks ago too, we took him to the vet and had him checked over, it turned out to be mild a tummy bug, he ate boiled chicken for 3 days and it resolved itself.

We're back from the vet now, he checked the urine and the stool for blood, bud didnt find anything. He thought it might be stones in the bladder (I don't know the medical expression for that in English), and told me to keep an eye on Buster when he uses the litterbox, and to call if he acts abnormal (?).

How's Buster doing? It's no fun when they are sick and acting normal and they can't talk to us. Hopefully the blood thing is just a phase.

Buster is doing fine, thanks for asking I haven't found anymore blood. The worse part with this whole thing was when he got ill from the anastheasia (I have NO idea how to spell this word). He puked, peed and pooed (?) all over the floor, and then he triped in it poor thing. I must admit I felt pretty sorry for my self as well. I also found out that Buster does NOT like to take a shower
