thanks nern... Wink its been a long time since i posted. i saw winnies post...her kitties are so adorable...made me want to post again. i miss the forum. things are going really well with all the boys. max has now learned to close the door to get my attention. he stands on his back legs and pushes it closed. chatters the whole time...and if it doesnt "click" he does it again....then bounces away knowing i will follow him and pet him. goofy as always.

christopher is wonderful. he has become a lover kitty. he was so traumatized and stressed when he came. it took him a good year to relax. mikey...is just the best. jumps on my shoulders....stands on his back legs and tries to touch my arm when im on the computer.

the only problem recently is...christopher went doodie in the hall last night. hes never done it before. ive been sick. i coughed alot last night. he jumped on my bed in the middle of the night...which he never does trying to head knock me...walking on me meowing. then...this am....doodie in the hall. if he does it again...vet time. cant figure out if he was stressed because i was sick???

hi chessmind! well...my current project is building my own concrete countertops...lols....

and you ask, well how does that relate to cats? max is trying to eat the semiprecious stones that come in the kit. its like he has a nose like a dog. i think he has pica myself, lols...all the things he eats.

hes been good since the tragic advil incident in nov. did i post that?? if not, i had the advil bottle out, took a couple and put the bottle on the bookshelf. of course, he smells everything that is wrong for him to eat. so....not one minute later, i walked back in the room and he had the bottle on the floor. i had not closed it fully. pills scattered on the floor and he was licking them. Shocked Shocked Shocked

christopher was sittling right next to him. so i freaked out. scooped both of them up (this was thanksgiving night), and rushed them to emergency. they spent thursday through monday morning at e.r. but...after multiple procedures, max had an endoscopy and system flush, iv's, meds, etc. .....
(this is after surgery last summer after eating a bunny fur mouse, but of course the vet didnt find that, he found a rubber plug and a long string Shocked ) but i digress..... Confused

NOTHING Rolling Eyes

they were both fine. 3500 dollars later. lols.

i figure, ive spent over 10,000 dollars on max so far, lols. im serious too. oh well. hes a geeber. i'd do it again.

but for those that dont know. ibuprofen is highly lethal to cats, and any portion of a pill can put them in kidney failure.

i never really thought christopher ate it, but i took him just to be on the safe side.

otherwise...things couldnt be better!

I didn't know Shocked Thanks for sharing that information... Kyrre loves to chew on the wrapping on my painkillers if I'm careless and leaves it laying around after taking a pill. I always takes it from him because I'm afraid he'll cut himself on the sharp edges, but what if he one day had gotten to one with a pill inside? I can't event think about it...

it really was awful...that waiting. Confused Pray the vet kept both of them there, with iv's because they dont go into kidney failure until 48-72 hours later. i was a wreck waiting. went in to visit every day. they looked awful. their coats were oily. max was a mess, afraid. christopher handled it better. but max had the endoscopy and more procedures because i saw him actually licking the pills. plus he had had surgery four months earlier.

just fyi. advil and some of the other pills have a sugar coating that cats and dogs like. they will try to lick the sugar coating but then they could get the whole pill...or lick the coating off and get some of the ibuprofen. my vet said get the gel caps just in case. they dont have that sugar coating. but...it seems like that would be a problem too...because their tongues could get caught on the gel cap and not be able to spit the pill out.

anyway...glad its over. i keep my pills in the back bathroom...now im paranoid about taking them in the house. Shocked
