We got another little prescious baby on the weekend, and my eldest cat Jay, well hes not even 12 months yet doesn't like her one bit, beinbg female I thought he'd be ok, but he is not liking her presence at all, she is called Tiffiney, shes 8 weeks old, he hisses and growles at her, and he means it, I'm really hoping he'l get used to her..
Does it take time, I guess it will..
Im trying not to tell him off because I think that that will make it worse, he might resent her..I'm giving him as much cuddles, even more, and letting him know its ok.. She loves Jay and just wants to be near him, but theres no way at the moment he will let her near him. I hope it gets better..

I dont want Tiff to become fearful either, as she is full of life and is sooo playful, but whenever he growls she cowers.. Crying or Very sad

Is it possible for you to keep Tiff in a separate room for now while you work on getting them adjusted to each others scents?

Hi Nern, thanks for replying..Its a little hard, I live in a small Townhouse, 4 kids, 3 bedrooms.. Embarassed

I seperate them when I go out, I put Jay in the laundry and leave Tiff in the lounge, theres "NO" way Im leaving them alone when I'm not there...

a slow integration is one of leaving the newbie in a room for up to 10 days with food/litterbox.
Not only does this give the 2 cats a chance to get used to each other smells and sounds but also gives you a chance to make sure the kitten doesn't have something contagious before introducing the 2.
Then you can slowly start to introduce them - swap bedding, give them peeks through maybe a baby gate, etc.

It can be hard at first when introducing kitties to each other. The other advice is good. Take it slow.

Your new kitty is adorable. Since she is a kitten, there is probably a better chance they will eventually get along. You could try taking a towel and petting each of the kitties with the same towel to mix the scents so they get used to each other's smell.

Hi Guys, well Iv been off the computer for a fe days, Iv been spending full time with the new Kitty and jay, and Im soooo glad to say, actually Im really really happy Surprised

They get along fantastic now, he's excepted her totally, he loves her, they snuggle together, Im so chuffed...

Jay purrs to her to play, hes such a great cat...
