need help with allergy problem

I'm trying to move into a house with a friend and a third person the friend only sort of knows. The third person signed the lease and THEN said that she has bad allergies with dogs and essentially vetoed my living there because of my dog (I would be moving in later to replace the current resident when he leaves, so I'm not on the lease yet). I have a shorthaired chihuahua that the girl has never met and am willing to pretty much do what it takes to make this situation live-able for all parties. Besides buying an air filter and bathing my dog weekly, what else can I do to help reduce pet dander? Any recommendations on an air filter? I really have no idea how to approach this, especially since my dog doesn't produce much dander to begin with.

Try Allerpet D. It's a liquid that you can wipe your dog down with, and usually works very well, expecially on a dog as small as a Chihuahua.

Yep. Or even a damp washcloth, on a daily basis,can work wonders. Mebbe you and dog could stay for a 3 day weekend, and do the trial thing. Might go a long way towards cohabitation happiness.

I have asthma. I got me a poodle which is good cos they don't shed fur. That is if she survives parvo. She's now in the clinic and i miss her a lot.

I am allergic to most dogs and ended up having to get two dogs that are small and don't shed. Anyway, our friends have animals and we never really have problems at their house. The reasons being: they bathe their cats and dog once a week, they vaccum their couches every day, and they try to keep their animals off of furniture or blankets we may use when we come over. I've had a few allergy attacks over there, but for the most part it's been okay. I think if you bathe them regularly and vaccum up any shedding hair ASAP, it should be okay.

Although, my husband has asthma and it's not so much the fur but the dander. The suggestion for buying that stuff you can wipe your dog down with may work too. Unfortunately though, if your roomate is extremely allergic (like my husband) then you can do everything in the world and it won't help. Is there any way you can keep the dog in certain areas of the house only? I'm sure your roomate will have their own room right?
