I'm looking after my dad's cat while he is on vaccation, and in their neighbourhood there is a beautiful stray cat. I think it's a male because he is quite big, he is orange and white and seems very loving.
My dad told me he thought the cat's owners had just left him when they moved. But it turns out it wasn't their cat either, they had just been feeding it and housing it for a couple of months (which, in my opinion, leaves them with the responsibility for the cat...)
Today I called both the Norwegian animal protection services and the re-homing (?) of animals assiciation, but there was no way any of them had room for any more cats... I would love to take him in if it turns out he can get along with Kyrre, but my room-mate is allergic to cats, and she is already on meds because of Kyrre. Do you know if the allergy gets worse the more cats you have
I'm heading over to the vet's office now to ask how much they'll charge for shaving him; he has long fur which is just one huge mat (?) Poor thing...
I'm going to the doctor to get a sick-note today (i've got a bad cold) so I'll have the time to make and print posters to put up everywhere; asking if someone misses him (which I doubt), or if someone is interested in adopting him.
Wish this fella good luck! I'll take pictures of him later on today |

Hi Bente. Your poor roomate. I hope you can find this cat a good home (either yours or another person). Let us know what happens. It's really kind the effort that you're putting in to help this needy guy. |

| The allergy shouldn't get any worse if she's on meds. If you are keeping the kitty, the mat definitely needs to be taken care of. If it's too expensive and the kitty is willing, you can try shaving him yourself. Some saliva/dander can be more virulent than others. My 3 year old used to break out in hives all over his head just being in contact with fur/dander particles in the air. Benadryl took care of it. Now he doesn't even need it unless he rubs the fur/dander in his eyes and no more hives! I think the body's immune system gets used to the allergies after prolonged exposures. Of all four kitties he's most allergic to Pumpkin + Monty. No problems with Rene. The key is frequent vacuuming + floor washing, kitty grooming + wet wipes. Good luck finding him a home! |

Hello Bente!!!
Hello Everyone!! I've been lurking here lots but I haven't had a chance to write.
I really hope you find a good home for your new friend. I am going through the exact same thing here in my own backyard.
I have been feeding and watering a brother and sister for about a month. They're about a year old and they are black and brown and orange swirled, with beautiful gold eyes and brown eyeliner. Just gorgeous kitties. I sent out an email at work today, and I'm really hoping someone comes forward. I called our Street Cat Rescue program, of which I am a member, but like yours, Bente, the foster homes are all filled up. And my Ruby HATES these 2 little kids!!! Plus they are starting to growl and hiss at her, and it's her yard!!
So I will be thinking of you and Kyrre and wishing you luck with your new friend.
PS Ruby says "Hello Kyrre!!!"
Peace
Michelle & Ruby |

Hi Michelle, long time, no see
I'm sorry to hear you are facing the same problem as I am. And I don't think we're the only ones, especially (sp?) now, during the holidays... Like the cat rescue woman I called said to me; it's sad that the only thing the vets wil do free of charge to help theese abandoned kitties, is to put them to sleep... "My" boy (?) is at the vet's right now, getting his matts combed out, they were real horrible to wach. I've got pictures of him, but my canon software has decided to take some time off...
Good luck with your kitties as well, they sound beautiful!
Give Ruby a scratch behind the ear from me and Kyrre
Ps: I appoligize for all the spelling errors I know is in here somewhere. I used to have a dictionary on my old computer, but I don't got one on this... |

Well... I have to admit I haven't exactly followed the plan I made for this big fella when I took him to the vet (we now know it's a neutered male). My plan was to let him wake up at my place, let him back out in my dad's neighbourhood and keep feeding him until I found him a home. But how could I do that to him? He is so skinny, and so happy to be around people again.... He now lives in a room we don't use that much, with access (sp?) to the porch.
I've put up posters around the city, but I haven't gotten any calls yet, and a big part of me is hoping that day doesn't come...
I'll keep you up to date on what happens with him, and I'll post pictures as soon as I can |

I hope Kyrre accepts this lucky little orange and white kitty in his home. Bente, you are a very good and kind-hearted person. |
