Freckles has been park of our family for almost three years now but, as a rescue, the effects of his early traumatic life still seem to haunt. Dukesmom, myself, and Duke move as a well sycronized unit through life. Freckles is on a syncopated beat.
We all have routines, Freckles flits around us in a parallel universe.
Most of the time he will ask to go out and then, on another occasion, he will just stand there and pee right in front of you. Same with poop.
Last night at about three o'clock he woke me up with one of those almost hushed squeaky whines. Thinking he needed to go outside for an emergency whatever, I go up and with Duke trailing along, shut off the house alarm and let them out on the deck. Freckles went out and then just stood there looking at me. Finally both boys went off to pee and then ran back to the door.
An hour later, the same routine. This time I got up and checked Freckles to see if he was in pain and finding no signs I let them out again. This time I just went back to bed.
Freckles was completely normal when we all got up.
There have been times when Freckles will refuse to get out of the car when we return from a drive, or he will get out and refuse to come into the house. He will sit in the dark garage for some time before I can finally coax him back, usually with a tennis ball.
All this adds up to a completely psycho mutt but a loveable toot anyway.
Guess he keeps life just a bit more interesting for the rest of us.

I like to think of these personality quirks as simply being unique Laughing
he's unique....and he knows his uniqueness is tolerated and he's loved anyway
