|
|
a couple of weeks ago I was asked, by my local shelter, to foster 3 homeless kittens caught in a trap.
Due to that Siamese Rescue was getting on my case about the feline leuk/aids testing the shelter had done on the kittens prior to them coming to me. When the kittens were brought to me their paperwork wasn't included. I was told they were tested but I didn't have the test results on my person.
Rescue gave me a week to fax them the paperwork to show them the results (keep in mind these kittens are less than 8 weeks old and testing would be inconclusive).
I was going to drive the 45 minutes to the shelter this past Saturday to get the records. The shelter is moving into their new building, all files are packed and awaiting the moving company. But I was given permission to go get the files.
I woke up Saturday morning and decided "screw that". I don't have to justify to anyone what I do in my home (unless it's illegal).
I took these 3 kittens in to help them get a second chance in life. We can now pet the terrified littler feral gray kitten.
Apparently Siamese Rescue only considers Siamese cats worthy of a 2nd chance in a caring environment.
I only have these kittens for 10-14 days. They are going back on the 17th and I figured rescue could wait until then.
Nope not good enough.
I missed the part on their training tape about jumping through hoops. So I'm don.e
No regrets...these kittens needed me and I never look back. |

| Hi Mary_NH. It's always perplexed me how some people treat others. You are a volunteer! And a wonderful foster volunteer at that! They are acting as if you are some low life hired help. You know what? It's their loss. Unfortunately the cats are the ones who lose out on a wonderful foster Mom, but there are a bunch more foster Moms needed for other caring rescue organizations. Are you going to foster for another organization? I hope so. |

I'll continue fostering for my local shelter but am going to request the older cats, in need. I prefer them over kittens. Kittens are a LOT of work and stinky little poop machines LOL
I like helping older cats that no one wants |

| Mary, I'm boycotting any more products endorsed by the Siamese Club. They are losing out on a extremely experienced and dedicated foster mom. Definitely their loss. Your local shelter is very lucky to have you! |

I'm sorry yo hear this Mary. But like Vene said: it's their loss... You'll still be helping cats in need, and hat's the most important part. Keep up the good work |

Mary I am sorry to hear that. As others have said it is the fur babies that will lose out. I am sure your local shelter is happy to have someone as caring as you. You will probably save more lives with them than with Siamese Rescue.
I wasn't going to say anything but when I was looking for my second Siamese, I was not impressed with Siamese Rescue, at least not the chapter here. They act like nobody is worthy of a Siamese even those of us who were raised with them. I went through a couple of Rescue Groups and learned that SR does not have a very good reputation here. |

chloesmom....which SR is that? The one I fostered for is in Virginia and I have heard the same from many people.
I didn't do it for their sake though - I did it for the cats. The director of the one in Virginia is a bit uppity and I always had that opinion of her. |

the one in Texas is going through a possible loss of their building.
Apparently they are zoned residential but the zoning board considers them business even though they are a nonprofit...gonna cost them a fortune to have the place reappraised as commercial. |
