I bought one of those silly pens with a plume of feathers at the top with a little yellow rubber duckie nested in the middle of the plume. I keep it in a glass on my desk along with other pens and stuff. I've had the pen for about 3 weeks.

Booger would climb up on my desk and steal the pen by teeth into the feathers and she would drag it to the kitchen/dining room where she would toss it up in the air with her mouth and bat it around.

Well, I noticed the other day, I found the pen on the diningroom floor and put it back in my desk jar. A few hours later, she climed up on my desk again and got to my pen jar, sniffed the pen and then started to walk off (like she was going to get down from my desk). I figured I'd pick up the pen and toss it for her to play with. She jumped down and I tossed the pen and she ran like a bat out of heII.

I followed her to the kitchen with the pen in my hand and she ran away again. Everytime I show her the pen, she runs away. No puffed up tail like they get when frightened, she just runs away.

Today, she was no where near my desk and I thought I'd test it and I snuck up on her with the pen in my hand. When she saw it, she darted away again!

What's up with that? I'm thinking maybe she hurt herself while playing roughly with it...I just don't know.

Silly kitties. They are so strange sometimes. Sounds like Booger thinks the pen was after her, so now she is afraid of it. Has she come back to the desk and sniffed at it again since her traumatic experience ( Mr. Green )?

Mittens has a bad experience with a helium balloon and is now very afraid of them.

Socks loves pens and pencils. When I'm doing a crossword puzzle, sometimes Socks starts pawing at my pencil. I may end up just giving it to her and she'll have fun batting it around for awhile.

That's probably what is going on. My cats have also had aversions to objects which they had bad experiences with. It just means they are smart. Mr. Green

that or they have a journal somewhere where they write down their 'pets' reactions to certain things they do and dont do...then share it with their fluffy friends. -.-
