I cant believe I have a new cat, its a stray that has been around for about 3 months, I finally made contact with it last week and I think its a she, is a little luvbug, loves attention, and can you believe the dogs!

I want to make it an indoor/outdoor cat (bringing it in the night

So how do you get them to start using a litterbox??
I have had 3 other cats and 2 from kittens and one from a rescue that knew how to use them, there was no traing invloved.

thanks

I would put her alone in a room for the night with a litterbox and see if she knows how to use it.
The kittens I have right now were all living outside and they took to the litterbox right away - not one incident

Congrats on the new kitty! Do you have a name for her yet? What does she look like? When I trapped Ginger the feral cat, I let him loose in our bathroom and put in Cat Attract litter. It worked like a charm as he always did his business in the litter box. Mr. Green

I love gray kitties! Surprised Shadow, Elmo or Lucky are very cute names and will suit him/her well! Most pet stores should have Dr. Elsey's cat attract litter:

Our Ginger (RIP) wasn't so friendly. He ripped up our bathroom and we couldn't go near him without a 10 foot pole, lol. What a beautiful image of her all curled up in your lap! She is very fortunate to have found you!

I heard if you bring in an outside cat to put good ol sand in the litterbox at first. That's more like what they're used to and then gradually switch them to litter. You can get clean sand from Lowe's back near the concrete mixes. Get the kind you'd put in a sand box.
