|

Hi All
First of all thanks for your help with my last posting. I have another quick question, As previously stated I have a 60L Biorb and in it i have some Neon Tetras, Black phantom tetras, some Guppies and a platy. I feed them all on Micro pellets and occasionally as a treat whole Bloodworms. I have read that some fish like green vegetables so my question is should i feed any of my fish vegetables and if so what types and how do i prepare them.
Thanks
Gordon |

| I used to cut up grapes for pacu, for some reason they stopped liking them, but while they were eating them they ate them well. |

| The best type of lettuce to feed your fish is Romaine Lettuce. Don't use Iceberg Lettuce. From my experience most fish won't even touch Iceberg Lettuce and from what I understand they do not digest Iceberg very well. Romaine Lettuce will hold up fairly well for about 24 hours, but I wouldn't leave it in the tank any longer than that. Remember that it is organic material and decaying organic material is going to mess with your biological filtration. Romaine Lettuce is stiff. As it begins to decay it becomes very soft and the edges turn black. |

I've had very good results with zucchini squash. My plecos, algae eater, rainbow sharks and even the Clown Loaches, all have veracious appetites for the stuff.
I just gave them a couple new slices this morning. Tomorrow morning, they'll want more. If any is left over, I simply remove it and replace with a brand new slice. |

Like HazeX said, Zucchini! Almost any fish that eats plant matter at all loves zucchini. And for whoever was mentioning silver dollars, try bottom feeding wafers and algae wafers, silver dollars go nuts for them and run around the tank with them hanging out their mouths like a dog with a bone.
EDIT:
I forgot to mention, it's best to either freeze the zucchini or microwave it before you give it to them. Apparently freezing or cooking breaks down the cellular structure and makes it easier for them to digest. |
