Every month I apply Frontline Plus on his skin. And every month he
reacts the same way. He will not come near me for the rest of the day.
Then he is leery of me for a few days after that if I am holding
something. He doesn't sleep well that night. He keeps rubbing on the
carpet. He just seems soooo miserable. I have no idea what is going on.
We give them exact same stuff to our other dog Lucy and she is fine. She rubs on the carpet at first but that's it.

It's hard to get close to him, but from what I can tell, there's
nothing going on with his skin in the spot I put it in.
Does anyone else have a dog who reacts like this?

mine does't react but I've read on other dog boards posts about dogs who have allergic (stinging) reactions to any of these products

Maybe it is stinging. The hair doesn't fall out and there aren't sores or anything.

Lucylu, sounds like an allergic reaction or senstive to the stuff. Do you have her on heartworm too? probably since I see you live in an area where I think there are a lot of mosquitos. If so try Sentinal. Its a once monthly pill, for both heartworm and fleas. I used to use the topical ointments but it made such a mess

Yes he is on Heartguard for heartworm preventative. I am going to ask my vet about Sentinal. Thanks very much for the tip!!!

I think frontline is an alcohol based product...some dogs in my shelter react poorly to the smell of this product...If I go anywhere near one of my dogs with any alcohol based product she gaggs and runs away....could just be a smell sensitivity. I think I heard something way back when Advantage first came out that the alcohol in these products had something to do with how the product disperses (sp?) over the body....sensitivity to this feeling??
