Scented Candles for Dogs

I'm doing research on scents that calm and relax dogs, and what smells good to them!

So far I've found that lavender is a very relaxing scent to my girls and to my familys dogs.

So I've decided to start making candles homemade just for dogs!!! I'm going to use them on my animals first and see how they work. I know when i have a candle burning. The girls always sniff around excited. One candle in particular, my clean linen scented candle, they just love. They will find it, then lay near it. I think it's calming and they enjoy the scent.

I'm going to experiment with a few diffrent things. (but nothing to nasty smelling that people wouldn't enjoy smelling too!!
I know they like clean linen and lavender
I'm going to try a doggie bone, (milk bone smell)
A milk smell, cedar smell.....

nothing too sweet or strong. More liek something we can barely smell. Dogs noses are sooo much stronger than ours.

Of course anyone who uses candles around pets should ALWAYS make sure to put them well out of reach, and supervise at all times. Never leave a candle burning when your not in the room.

I wish I had your energy. lol. You're always doing something, making something.

The only scents Indy seems to like are food and other dogs. And cat smell. Maggie would like a cat smelling candle. When I burn my scented candles (strawberry/cherry) I've never noticed them acting any different, but then I've never really paid attention.

Zoey would definately like a poo smelling candle LOL! ANY kind of poo would be fine.

She sniffed out her torn up toy this afternoon. Now what did she smell on that???? I put it in the bathroom and she was outside when I moved it so there is NO way she saw me put it in there. She found it 12 hours later. Did she smell her saliva? (poo scented saliva) Laughing

Or the polyfil?

LOL! Thinking that I'm not even gonna go with a poo scented candle.... I don't want to work with those ingrediants, nor do I want to burn a candle and smell the poo! LOL

I don't like the "fake" smelling candles. And I really don't like the ones that smell like food! I can be doing so well (diet wise) and sniff a vanilla-sugar-cookie-pumpkin-spice-apple-cobbler candle and suddenly am starving! Personally I would love a candle that smelled like new wood or leather. Isn't that weird?? Those are a few of my favorite smells.

I love the leather too!! I'm trying to figure out how to make that scent... not working out too well though!

will get a cotton candy oil just for you and make you a candle. LOL...

The thing about the food smelling ones... their great, but after a while, You dont' want to eat whatcha been smellin all day! LOL

Scented candles are nice but I had to get rid of all mine when we discovered my puppy has allergies. No more scented candles, scented laundry soap, dryer sheets, air fresheners of any sort........
