Help! Pregnant dog questions

We, my wife and I, are new at this but, our dog Peanut is a Dashaund/Jack Russell Terrier mix and was bred by a Beagle. She only has 5 days left until she is due. Everything has been fine so far, but we recently noticed that her stomach is purple. Is this normal? Any info we can get on this subject and anything on the delivery is greatly appreicated, like I said we are very new at this. Thanks for your time.

Ive noticed on some dogs there can be some darkening of the skin on the belly when they get bigger but I wouldnt say it was purple. Look out for charmedagain (Mike) he will probably be able to help you out with that.

Have you had the dog to the vet for check ups? apart from the general health through the pregnancy Im wondering about the size of the dogs involved, is your dog an average size for these breeds and the Beagle an average Beagle size? Beagles can be quite a bit bigger than JRT's or Dachshunds, if this is the case there could potentially be a problem with the delivery if the pups are too big. (Ive spent a lot of time assisting in c-sections due to this).

I think you should take your dog to a vet.

This is normal in some dogs, But as Dela Mentioned you may want to take the dog in to have her checked over by the vet.
They may want to do an x-ray to make sure the puppies are not too large to be passed normally, If they are a ceasarian section will be needed.

Large puppies can put severe risks on the mother during labour and can sometimes result in something going wrong.

Was this breeding wanted or was it an accident?
How old is you girl?
Are her vaccintaions and worming upto date?
Any health issuse with your dog?

Sorry bout the questions but i am trying to get a better picture of the situation.

You may also want to ask your vet for an emergancy number incase she needs the vet during the night or if something goes wrong.

Breeding was an accident. She is aprox. a year and a half old. Her and the Beagle are just about the same size, she is big for her breed and he is small for his breed. No health problems and everything is up to date. Thanks for your replies.
