Hey yall! My sisters Boyfriend got her a mini schnauzer for Valentines day. he got her early before they were gone. She's a beautiful little girl. We named her Cali. She's a little spit fire. She's 7 weeks and has already mastered potty training and sit. She's a very smart little girl!

Without further ado, here's Cali!!!!

Don't look at the date on the camera. I can't figure out how to change it! LOL I changed the batteries and it wiped out the date this morning...

She is adorable Its amazing how some pups get potty training right straight away and others dont.

I was fearing that she'd be yappy. But she really hasn't made much of any noises. Mom and dad were champions... and neither of them were yappy. So maybe we got a good one?

She will whine when she needs to go potty and right way we know to take her out. She sleeps with Amanda and then stays in the bathroom when we're gone. (we've gotta get a new crate). She will not go potty in the bathroom!

She's had a few accidents, which as we recall were our faults. She would whine and sniff around, but we failed to take her out in time.... so she did give us fair warning.

She just started this little growly thing when we play rough... and has barked a few times... but not much.

She's definatley a little stinker. She gets the "crazies" and will run laps around the living room and then come attack you. Man does she have some sharp little teeth!!!

She got her first shots yesterday and she doesn't want to eat. She's acting as normal as usual, but doesn't want to eat much. I'm assuming its just cuz of the shots making her feel a bit bad.

She weighed in at 1.9 lbs at the vet.... She's definately one of a kind.

She JUST learned how to bark. I had an argument with her at 6 this morning. I was taking her out to potty and told her "Go Potty!" She sat down looked at me and started barking!!! I told her, "Don't talk back! Go Potty!" This went on for about 3 minutes and finally she grunted, walked around pottied and came back and barked.

It was the funnies thing!!!

... I couldn't help but laugh, but quickly realized that she needed to dtop now, even though it was soo cute.

So we totally ignore her when she starts barking at us... I thik she's figured it out now. Now she's into running off with EVERYTHING!! She grabbed ahold of my sisters shoe and tried to drag it into her bed. Her littlemouth just latches onto everything. Its hard to teach her to quit biting and chewing on everything...

We hold her little snout when she bites... I've thumped her on her nose, But she's so tiny, I'm scared to really do much.

Any suggestions? I've already picked everything up she could get ahold of...replaced it all with toys... but the biting.. she's a chomper and clamps down on anything close to her mouth...

Encourage Acceptable Behavior

Redirect the puppy's biting by offering acceptable objects (such as chew toys) whenever you pet him/her. Whenever you pet the pup, As you reach out, scratch the puppy behind the ears with one hand, and offer the chew toy with the other. This will not only help your puppy learn that people and petting are wonderful, but will also keep the mouth busy while he/she is being petted. Alternate which hand does the petting and which one has the chew toy. You may need to start off by petting or scratching your puppy for short periods of time, since the longer he/she is being petted, the more likely the pup is to get excited and nip.

We've tried that. She still goes for your hand, arm, elbow... legs. stomach.... what ever...

Tried again with the ball and "NO BITE!" I resorted to yelping like an injured dog when she tried to bite.... that just made her get more excited and attack me more! Rolling Eyes

We never did find anything terribly successful with Nala. But we consistently told her "no" in a low, firm, calm voice and would hold her little muzzle shut. Eventually she outgrew it. Mostly.

I'm working on Missy now. She jumps like a pogo stick, teeth first. It doesn't hurt, but I figure it would be better for her adoptive family if she didn't do that anymore. Smile

That's assuming I adopt her out, LOL.

LOL. I thumped her hard this afternoon. She jumped up when I was on the floor clipping coupons and got me in the cheek. Those puppy teeth hurt! She yelped and and looked at me like... "WHOA!!!" then did it again!!! So I thumped just as hard. She hasn't done it again.... She went for my toes and I gave her a good thump. Now every time i see her go to chew on us, I thump her. I think she's figuring it out!!! She tries to bit, her nose gets hurt! LOL... I hate doing it I feel so Mean... but I can't take it any more. She's got all of our hands and feet litterally bleeding and sores all over them. I think she's the devil in disguise..... And the people she came from said, Oh she never did that with us.... But we never let anyone play with them....

Ranger did that, but we started holding his muzzle shut and he quickly stopped it, especially after i accidently held it shut on his tongue! I thought he was whining because he didn't like his muzzle shut, poor little guy! Anyway, when he went through a "rebellious" stage later he started again, and holing his muzzle shut didn't help, but I held the top of his muzzle and pressed on the roof of his mouth just a tad, and he stopped pretty quickly.
