Hello im new to this site. I am becoming a guppie breeder (im only 14) I bout 2 guppies already they r beautiful. I bought a female and a male. The female was pregnant when i bought her, So ya i have sum questions about guppie fry .

Questions below.

1. How small are fry wen they are first born, because wen i fed my adult yesterday all theses very small squirmy things ( small as a grain of sand) swiming around.

2. Does a Female guppies give birth every week during a pregnancy or just once during a pregnancy.

3. I have a filter that has big holes in it so that it will s**k up the big particles in the tank. but the filter is also s**k my male guppies tale in to it ( it did that last night, i had to un plug and carefully remove his tail). and the filter is s**k up those squirmy things i was talking about in the first question (#1).

alright, yeah, those squirmy things sound like they might be babies, i haven't bred guppies in a while though, so i can't remember exactly what they look like. as far as your filter, i would definitely get a different filter that won't s**k up your male's tail. And even if these thigns aren't babies, if you don't get a new filter all of the babies when they are born will be s**k up. Also, unless you are going to keep the babies in a seperate tank, be sure to provide lots of hiding spaces in plastic or lives plants and such for them, or else their parents will eat them.

Hello! I don't know fish, but my dad has guppies and the babies are indeed quite tiny. He always has a variety of sizes, with the teeniest guys mostly hiding in the bushes. I second the advice of getting a new filter.

Seen from above the female will have a fatter appearance as she is carrying eggs.
