help plz with feeding fruits

Hello again and im just waondering hot do i feed fruit to parakeets i mena i cut up some banna and he thought it was a perch becuas he went onto it i dont think he relized that it was food does anybody have any tips for makeing them try iT??

I usually give my birds there fruit on a morning after i clean out the cages.
When i change there food i give them the fruit instead chapped up and put in a food dish for them and place this in the cage if none is eaten about 1-2 hours later i remove and discard them and put there seed dish back in.

Also you can get skewers like the ones for kebabs but are designed for birds and chop some fruit and push it on there and hand this in there cage they should then try it.
