Help with my pitbull puppy

my 7week old blue fawn has parvovirus and I want to know does anyone know how long it lasts in puppies

IM very sorry to hear of your sad news.
Parvo can take a puppy's life in a matter of days it is a very devastating disease. IM assuming your puppy is being treated by a vet? If so then you should know already how important keeping your puppy hydrated is. Dehydration sets in very quickly because of the frequent loss of fluids from diarrhea and vomiting. Dehydration is the main reason puppies with parvo die even with treatment some puppies do not pull through. I wish you the best of luck. Keep us posted on how your pup is doing.

Almost 2 years ago, I lost 2 pups to parvo. After watching the 1st one die, we had the 2nd one (which my mother-in-law was going to keep for herself) put to sleep. We went through the treatment with the first one to no avail, and seeing what he was going through was heartbreaking. That is why we had the 2nd one put to sleep. It truly is devestating. I'd say if your pup makes it a week, he's probably going to pull through. I wish you the best of luck.

I'm sorry to hear that, there is no set time for pups to get over it. It took my dog months to get over it. She was near death and a very bad case, but she made it through the night. She was hospitalized and then when she came home she needed lots of rest and TLC and water and a special diet. It took her so long to gain any weight back about a few months before she got back to herself. The dog was on IV and antibiotics and was "over it" in about 2 weeks, it took a week for her to get stable she could have relapsed any time. Pit Bulls are prone to parvo, especially the blues/blue fawn types because many have comprimised immune systems. There is also a parvo epidemic there are several dogs here in the vet and others who have already died, not all were pups either. It seems its the same everywhere else with so many cases i've seen on the boards. The best prevention is to steralize your yard, don't expose your pup to new areas, make sure they have all their shots and are otherwise healthy and free of worms and not to be removed them from their mother so young, staying at least 8 weeks. Your pup is only 7 weeks and has already been with you, pups should remain with the breeder until they are 8 weeks of age.
