I just got my Lou's papers today. Is in-breeding a common thing to do in a kennel? I dont know much about breeding & it just seemed odd to me. Anyway here is his pedigree. Someone please look at it since I just spent the last hour writing it. lol

| Well I would say on your dogs sire's side there is some inbreeding. Unless they have alot of dogs with the same name. Mostly the father to their daughter. I have always heard that inbreeding dogs is not good and can cause some problems for the pups. I acutally had a dog die for that reason. (I didnt breed her just got her as a pup and found out later she was horribly inbreed. Not a purebreed dog just irresponsible owners not fixing their dogs and letting them mate.) Hopefully someone with a little more breeding knowledge will come along. |

Finally the pedigree came! Yeah its common I guess you could say, couldn't have a good bloodline or locked in traits without it. Couldn't have a line of predictability and proven to be rock solid.
I looked at it but still can't figure much out. I remember your post from before about bloodlines and such, the pedigree didn't really help. Do you have his 6 gen? The sire is inbred 1/2 bro x sis then that bred back to the sire. Looks like its an outcross though and not inbred. Garner's Hickory Tee is a CH and a son of Frisco ROM while that bitch he is bred to is a daughter of Cool Hand Luke bred back to his daughter.
It also seems I've heard of the dog called Terminator's Nigger, but I just can't seem to place him. |

| I think i see a breeding between a ½ brother and sister in the 3rd or 4th generation. (something like that..) I see some linebreeding. Nothing strange about that. People who have no idea on the breeding of purebred dogs always have a negative feeling when they read the same dog name numerous times in their peds. This is how a breeder keeps their lines nice and tight. It's nothing to be concerned about. |

No I dont have a 6 gen. I never plan on breeding him so I didnt think it was that important.
I've had luck on his mom's side on finding a few things on those dogs. But his dad's side just leads to dead ends. I've found the Terminator site. But the Top Gun site has been taken down. All the pages I found the links on were written in German so I probably wouldn't have been able to read it anyway. |
