Please help what kind of fish is this??

i recently aquired this fish, they called it a 'dragonfish' which I find out is an Arowana, which is DEFINITELY not what this fish is. This is a bottom dwelling fish, silverish-grey, with tiny, sharp teeth and the tiniest eyes ive ever seen. I couldnt get a good picture so I sketched it, any idea what is anyone? I desperately need to know what ot feed it, and how, it doesnt seem to be growing-or getting thinner, so i dont know...

Wow T chelle, you're good, thats it alright...leave it to idiots in a petstore to label it 'dragonfish'. Between this and the Pacu incident I swear im not buying a strange fish again unless i see some good info on it..I know better than to listen the the store people but..

Hi DogmaMa, Dragonfish is a very common name given to the fish that you have drawn (nice artwork). I have only seen the Arowana referred to as Dragonfish (as a common name) in textbook form such as fishbase.org.

The violet goby eats food out of the substrate. To feed it there must be food in or on the gravel bed. The goby comes around, usually at night, and gets a mouthful of gravel and sifts it through its gills. The food is swallowed and the gravel is dropped out. I have only seen mine do this once or twice and it's about a year old. Mine is about a foot long, but doesn't ever bother my little corys. They have very poor eyesight so don't expect it to eat food that is right in front of it. I feed sinking carnivore pellets and small algea wafers around the time the lights are going out. I also add frozen bloodworms, but I'm not sure if it ever gets any. They are big fishes, so I hope you have a big tank.

Its in a 55 right now..and it isnt brackish water...im going to have to invest in a 300 gallon (or bigger) sometime in the future, and it could live with my pacu in that..pacus not a brackish water fish though...im not sure waht to do, maybe offer the Goby back to the pet store, i suppose...man im looking dumber by the minute

I did the same thing Got myself some moonlights gouramis which i ended up returning. They took my tank apart
