A couple of months ago we purchased a 1927 Victor Victrola at an antique market. I had to send the tone arm and reproducer head off to be rebuilt and just got it working last weekend. This is the first model that had an electric motor drive for the turntable but like the older models it does not have any amplifiers or other electronics. The victrola came with several albums of old 78 rpm records. Over the weekend we moved it into the den and last night I pulled out one of the old record albums to select a record to play.
While flipping through the records I felt a push on the back of the album and I looked to see both Duke and Freckles with their noses planted against the spine of the album. Evidently that old album had an irresistible scent because they were both snuffling away.
I selected a record and put it on the turntable and as soon as it began to play both boys went over and looked and listened to the strange music coming out. It reminded me of the old RCA add with Nipper "Listening to his masters voice".
My camera was handy so I got a shot of both boys checking out the victrola. I have no idea why they found both the album and victrola so fascinating.
