I recently got a 6 month old pup in KY. She was an outside dog. I brought her back with me to CO. She has/had fleas. They were so bad that she had scabs all over the top of her head and on her chest. I have been using flea and tick shampoo on her. In the last week she has lost hair on 3 different spots on her body. The first was between her shoulder blades. The hair came out and left a red/raw spot on her. A few days later, she lost hair on top of her head (where the scabs had previously been). It was also red/raw. Now, she lost a patch of skin a little further along her back. It is also red/raw. I have changed her food since I brought her home. She is now eating NUTRO puppy food. Could the hair loss be from the fleas???...Nerves from the recent move???...or a reaction to the change in food??? Also, can anyone tell me what I can do to keep the spots from getting bad infections??? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Awwww poor litttle soul, Im glad she is now in the hands of someone who will take care of her, they have neglected this pup and I would have reported them to a shelter or something, sounds like maybe she might have a skin infection from the fleas. They can cause all sorts if left like it sounds like..I would take her to the vet for a full ckeck up and blood tests too.
She may need something more.
I hope she gets better and makes a full recovery.
She is now in good caring hands.

Could be from where the scabs were that have bald spots? Ive seen some dogs that are almost bald from this however as Chezza mentioned, a vet would be recommended asap, if the fleas where that bad then the poor dog could have who knows what else going on with it, most likely is full of worms....long term parasitic infections can cause damage to the major organs if not treated. Well worth having a thorough vet exam.
