A lot of breeders use banding to be able to identify different clutches so that they don't inadvertently inbreed or if they are planning on strengthening a certain trait that they know which birds to inbreed.

A breeder that bands there birds will have there name clutch number, year of birth and usually there postcode.

Not everyone bands there birds but it does help with breeding records and mutations.
