has anyone used one? are they worth it ? do they really help with algea? thanks lots

They really do work, but only with free flowing algea...that is green water. Green water is really primarily found in ponds. The algea that grows on your tank walls,gravel and plants, will not be affected by the sterilizer. If you do have green water, then you must make sure that the wattage on the sterilizer matches the gallons per hour that you are pumping through it. The manufacturer will have suggestions to optimize this.
