Goob reminded me in the other post about the bill proposed in GA for a statewide ban of pit bulls...I read on another board that they withdrew the bill today...I haven't been able to find it in print anywhere though...anybody know for sure the status? I'm crossing my fingers that this is true..

This was cross posted on another board, says it'll be withdrawn tomorrow:

Since I was included in this list I thought I would share with all of you my knowledge of this proposed ban. Even though I am in the state of Alabama, I have many reliable sources throughout the US, including GA, concerning BSL. Via my contact in GA I will share with you what I learned and what can be confirmed. This bill is out there until tomorrow morning but it has been CONFIRMED that it will not pass. I will be more than happy to share more specifics about this once I learn them from my contact. I do know there is a scheduled meeting to take place tomorrow morning with someone from HAGA and Earnest Williams, the main sponsor of the bill. Opposing sides are very confident this meeting will be in your favor. I can also confirm that a PBRC volunteer met with legislators at the GEC Legislative reception last night and personally put into the hands of the Speaker of the House of Representatives a complete packet on BSL that is armed with tons of info on why BSL is not effective. That coupled with the countless letters effectively written by educated pit bull people from all over is what kind of action gets results and what won this battle. I also understand that the bill was very poorly written anyway, and hardly stood a chance of passing in the first place. It was also brought to my attention that the governor, Sonny Perdue, is a veterinarian and a member of the American and Georgia Veterinary Medical Associations. Those organizations seriously oppose BSL.

My hat is off to all who effectively fought this bill!

So, looks like things are looking up there. Still not a good thing that an attempt was even made, but maybe it will turn out for the best and other states will follow GA's lead in realizing BSL isn't effective. We can hope anyway Your the best

Well, that's very good news! Surprised Hope this discourages other states from trying it as well.
