I'm in love with Curly. THat mastiff was beautiful. I wish I could get one but they are so darn expensive.

AS to the show, I wish they didn't do shows like that. I don't think it is good for the dogs themselves or good for the reputations of those breeds of dogs.

Eliza, thanks for reminding me, I thought their concept was just disgusting, talk about giving certain dogs a bad rap. at least they had a mutt mixed in.
I think doing that stunt uld have me fearing dogs for the rest of my life.

was curly that black dog?? oops they were all black I caught the end and the girl said she was glad she didnt have to encounter so and so?? was that CUrley? I thought he an was interesting looking breed. I thought maybe it was a cane corso?? because he had pointy ears, but I just saw his head sitcking out. he looked like "I really dont want to be here"

Bully, the cotenstants were wearing chew proof garb, probably what they use to train attack dogs. So they have to go grab a present at one end of the room and get to the other end and put the present in tehe box, all while they are being vicously attacked by a certain dog. they started with a mutt, then a GSD and then I think it was a mastiff or cane corso. Looked like their arms were being ripped off..

If it had clipped ears it was likely a Cane Corso...an Italian Mastiff....

At least they didn't have Pits attacking anyone... Cane Corso's are guardian types and excel at that work...no reason hiding that fact...and they didn't disclose the true breeds so it's all speculation...that's better than pointing out this is such and such breed advertising them as being skillfull at this type of work for thugs who don't know what they are doing... Missed that show but I saw the previews..... I'm sure they felt teeth through those suits...ever seen decoys and what they look like after a trial??? Bruised despite the bite suits...

Sarah I didnt know a cane corso was a mastiff, thanks for the info.

I didnt see the whole episode so I dont know if they went over the breeds or not, luckily they didnt have a ABT there, but then again they did have a GSD and mastiff which if the tough kids see, they will want. and say COOL tough dog! arrrggh

Really it's up to the breeders who they sell too and nothing more... and owners for what they train for... Dogs trained in Sch. type stuff are less likely to bite though because they've been so highly trained and their temperment is stable...

Either way I saw the previews of that show and thought it'd have been one fear factor event I would have liked to try out myself!...LOL

My thoughts exactly!!
I missed the very begining so I'm not sure if they 'introduced' the dogs. But I know I would have been terrified!
"Curley" was the last dog and LOOKED to be the strongest. I think a bit bigger too? The last girl didn't have to face Curley because her time was quicker than the other girls. So she was very happy about that!
One guy got bit on the butt! Well, close enough to it, he showed the bite and it was bleeding a little.
The girl had a bruise on her elbow she showed during the next stunt.

I don't think that was a very good 'stunt' to have on Fear Factor. Enough people are afraid of dogs AND too many dogs like that get attention. And also, a lot of people that dont know the breed would assume that Curley was a Pit Bull. (IMO) I looked twice before I knew it wasn't. And I WAS shocked that they didn't have a Pit Bull on the show, being as how some or a lot of people think they attack like that. But Im glad it wasnt!

Yeah Angie, when I got to work this morning a few people said "did you see that big pit bull on fear factor". Everyone still assumed that that was a pit as usual.

Ya i saw it. curly was 140 pounds and i figured he was a mastiff. boy was he big. i'm not afraid of dogs, and i'm still not, but i kinda wish they didn't use live animals on that show. neways, i think the girl that didn't have to face curly was quite happy!

I don't watch Fear Factor (I can't get it) but even when I was in USA, I only saw one or 2, I think that show is too demeaning of the people for that little of money. I remember watching once(I think it could have been the first episode) and the stunt was to be pulled behind a horse through the streets of a fake wild west ghost town, and a black man said something to the extent of, no my parents and grandparents fought way to hard for my people not to be treated like this. I think it is ridiculous what people will do for money, I hate it.

I feel the same way and would like to point out that to be fitted with a bite suit and take a bite from a trained attack dog would not require monetary compensation...I'd just like to try it once for the heck of it...maybe even learn to be a "decoy" in trials etc...LOL I'm totally serious...

HOWEVER I aggree that most of those shows are extremely demeaning just for some cash...

I don't watch any of those "reality" shows. My personal opinion is that they reflect the dumbing down of America.

You know, I think that in general fear factor is not a good show because many of their "challenges" are not kind to animals. LIke for instance, they once had them jump in a pit of mice, lay in a box of snakes, etc. I mean, I know these are animals that people think are gross, but they're still animals that deserve to be treated humanely. Given circumstances like that, I'm sure more than once mouse got stepped on and injured, and the snakes were so jammed in there they could barely move-- I dunno, I just think it's kind of sick that people get entertainment out of watching things like that.

I agree. I think that eating the bugs and stuff is rather gross none the least, but they should be dead first...

I also agree about the layin in the pit of snakes and mice, I know some of those animals were hurt, and do you think the producers did anything about it? NOOOO...and what do they do with all the animals afterwards??? I thik they said on the one with the rats, there were 10000....so what happend to the 10000 after the show??
