Hi, I ride western. I have a Cremello Paso Fino stallion and a Grey Arab Cross stally and I ride western for both. I personally think it is more comfortable for those long rides.

But I ocassionaly trade in the western saddle for an english one when I am riding my Arab since his gait isnt as smooth as my pasos so it helps with my balance and posture

I rodeo.

I train both western and English, as well as driving.

Western is more relaxed than English. But I reccommend that everyone learn the basics of English before western. Teaches you balance, stamina, and corect seating.

Also boosts your confidence!

I ride both and agree that English is better to start with to get the proper balance and seat and LEG placement and USE for the horses... It's amazing how much more people use their legs when they start English and then go Western... Same with starting horses... I think starting a horse to supple it etc...in Dressage etc...is good to get the muscles all working together and to create a balanced horse etc...

i ride both english & western on the same horse. Western is great when ur trail riding, or doing western stuff like barrel racing of chasing cows, or even if ur just mucking around in tha paddock. But i ride english when im jumping or doing flatwork/training.
