YAY! So after dealing with all of those horrible breeders and wasting my time, I got in contact with a show breeder in my area. Well, I went to look at her happy family today and was very pleased!
Your the best
She does have a lot of Maltese (6 females, 4 males) but 3 of the females are spayed and 2 of the males are neutered and just pets. She really loves her pups and interviewed me for a good 30 minutes. Her house was very large so they were all in good conditions, she had nice happy comfy rooms for all of them and her whole family cares for them. She took me to each one so I could meet all of them, they were just the sweetest dogs ever!! Mr. Green I'm so in love with Maltese now! Such loving lap babies. As soon as I sat down on the floor they all climbed on my lap at once, and the ones that didn't fit climbed on the couch to tap me on the shoulder with their paws and let me know they were being ignored Laughing It was the cutest thing ever. They all just wanted to be held and carried.

She had 3 female puppies available that were 14 weeks old, but was considering keeping them for show. I fell in love with one of the girls, she was the one sitting all by herself while her sisters rolled around and chased each other. I picked her up and she just laid her head on my shoulder, awww! Such a sweetie. Her parents are 6 and 7 lbs so she'll be a bigger maltese.

Then she took me to show me the newborn, just born on Wednesday. Her mom is a little 4 lb champion, and her dad is just a 3 1/2 pound ball of fur. I fell even more in love with the parents, and the poor little baby that hadn't even opened her eyes. Her mom wasn't mean at all, the happiest kindest sweetheart even while I got to hold her baby for a few minutes. She only had one puppy in the litter, and it was a female. I got so lucky. She'll be 10 weeks old on December 17th, which happens to be the day I get off for a 2 week winter break! Very Happy Because she's the only puppy in the litter she'll get all of her milk so the breeder said she wouldn't mind letting her go at 10 weeks instead of 12. It couldn't work out any better! I'll have 2 whole weeks to spend with her and get her settled.

The breeder said to stop by whenever I want, like in a month or so, with the deposit when I've made up my mind because she doesn't want to sell the puppy to anyone else, if I don't want she wants to keep it for herself. Well, I wonder if she minds if I drop it off tomorrow!
Wink

thanks everyone!! i'm so excited!
i didn't want to take pictures yet, since the puppy is still far too young, her eyes haven't even opened yet and her little face is still all pink, she's so little and precious right now. fit in the palm of my hand! but i really don't want to stress out her mom by holding her too much. i heard the flash isn't good for them? i will definetly be taking some when i get a chance to go back again in a few weeks though so i can show them off, i promise! i can't wait until she can come home. december seems so far away Sad
& puttin, she lives in riverside with all her gorgeous malt babies! she's from huntington beach but they don't allow residents to have more than 4 dogs or 4 cats, so she retired early and moved out there to a really large home where she could keep all of them Surprised

Riverside is only a hop skip and a jump for you and me. Only about 45 minute drive depending on traffic, probably about the same for you. How lucky you are to find a pup soooooo close. Heck I could probably see Huntington if I get on top of the hill. LOL Can't wait to see the pup. At about ten to 13 days they start opening their eyes I beleive. How often do you get to see her. Have you decided on a name yet. It seems alot of people name their malts Alexis, don't go there. LoL Not that I don't like the name. Ah heck if you like it pick it. LOL

Yes!! It's very close so I'm really happy for that! I want to go visit her as much as possible when the puppy is a bit older, I guess it's not very exciting to try to bond with a puppy that hasn't opened its eyes yet. I couldn't believe how sweet mom was, and how dad was just a teensy ball of fur! I agree with Maltipoomama, I just loved being there. It was so cute, wherever she would walk they would all follow, like a herd of little white lambs right behind her.
I'm thinking of naming her Chloé, but I'm still looking at names right now
http://www.dogstory.net/Prenomsdechien.htm There's just so many to chose from!

& Thanks Mybabyshihpoo, December is very far away, but at least the peace of mind and healthy puppy will be worth the wait! Your the best

Gwen~

What are you plans for acclimating Niko to a new (and tiny) baby. He's been the "mini" in your life until now. I know you'll want to avoid a "sibling rivalry" situation. The fact that your new baby is female will most likely help..(less competition)..

How about "Cherie" for a middle name. Chloe Cherie. French of course for dear or dearest. That's my Brandee's middle name, because she was born on Valentine's Day - viva l'amour!

Oh Nico LOVES every dog, I have no doubt that there would be a problem. He is the sweetest dog I have ever had, I love the little guy to bits. I could bring 20 more dogs in and he'd be the happiest little guy in the world. He thinks everyone is his friend. He has the happiest demeanor and is so naive and innocent that it's rubbed off my father too. He's retired and has been hogging Nico! Laughing He's lonely so I understand, he just doesn't want to admit that some little chihuahua has won him over. He always tells me to let him stay with him for a few days since I'm "so busy" and when I tell him I'm really not busy at all he looks so sad that I just play along and let him babysit. Nico is going to love having a new friend though, he always wants to play with my husky and she just climbs up on the bed where he can't reach her. He's only 2 lbs and still fairly young himself so I'm not concerned about him hurting the new baby.

& Thats a really cute idea, I speak french, hence the interest in a french name for the new girl!

Congrats Gwen on your new baby!! I, too, love those malteses!! They are sooooo stinkin cute, I can't stand it!! Smile Can't wait to see pics! Now call that breeder and tell her to quit letting people come and play with the puppies! Did you know that it's extremely dangerous? If people are out "puppy shopping" you can go from breeder to breeder and actually spread parvo that way. I don't mean to scare you... and not judging either... I just know if it were me, I'd put down my deposit and then make them promise not to let anyone else see/touch her.

No worries Monster Bailey, I'm the only one that's seen her! Your the best
She doesn't want to sell her dogs, rarely does. She only agreed to give me the chance to buy one because she knows how much bad luck I've had in the past with breeders and she's really angry that those horrible people I dealt with are giving a bad name for all breeders. She says if I don't want to buy her though that she wants to keep her for herself Razz
I'll definetly be calling tomorrow though and letting her know the check is in the mail!
That little baby is mine!

Hello All, THis is my first time posting a message on this or any message board for that matter. I enjoy reading the conversations so i decided to join in.

Cograts Gwen on your new puppy.

I have been researching tiny breeds for months now and looking for breeders. I cant seem to find one in my area (West Palm Beach)

I would adopt but they only have big dogs. I really want a puppy preferably a malti-poo

So any way, maybe someone can help me to find one. And maybe one thats not gonna cost me an arm and a leg. Where should i look and what should I look out for as i continue my search?

please help or give me some advice

, Tiny Star!

Another member from my area. I live in Port St. Lucie now, just up the road from you, but lived in WPB for many years.

sorry I can't help you with a local breeder for maltipoos. But I do have a friend in your area who researched maltese breeders and adopted a little girl, "Angel". Let me check with her.

I adopted my peke from a breeder in Williston, Florida. Have you tried the internet? Also, in the back of Dog Fancy magazine (you can get it at Petsmart) they have a list of breeders of all types. Hope that helps.

I'm having my pup shipped to me from Alabama to CAlifornia. It will take about 6 to 7 hours. Not very long at all. If you were to find one there or somewheres about the same it would take much less time.
