And the winner is..... (drum roll, please)

Puppy #1

The smallest Shih Poo, all black w/little white stripe on chest and drop of white on chin and back two feet.

The Shih Tzu -Bichon (Shichon) was going to be 10 lbs. (and I was almost thinking the breeder was being conservative in his estimation). And the other Shih Poo was, well, I don't know. It was darling, but we didn't know much about it being part Shih Poo & part Shih Tzu (as oppose to part Poodle & Shih Tzu). And not that we minded that, but the deciding factor was really the breeder. I felt this one in MI was exceptional. And I felt she was honest. I'm sure the others would've been fine, too. But that was our decision.

We pick him up on the 13th or 14th of November. We can't wait! We got the puppy from the most reputable breeder, we feel. And there was just no substitution for that. We paid more, we'll travel farther (somewhat) but in the long-run, it'll be worth it.

Also, thanks for encouraging me to not be afraid to go for the small puppy, in spite of our freak accident with the other puppy. We actually want to litter-train our new puppy, and the small one would suit that the best. Besides, I loved putting my other puppy in my carrier/purse and bringing him everywhere. So this will work out just fine. I think he will be around 5 lbs., they're estimating. The parents are 4 and 5 (or 6) lbs.

And since he'll be incredibly spoiled, we'll probably name him "Riley". Especially since he'll have the life of Riley. LOL Hmm, maybe we'll name him "Oh, Riley!" LOL

Thanks again, everyone. You've been sweet as well as supportive! I appreciate that. And I'll put up a pic when I get one.

God bless you all.

OH FANTASTIC!! Congratulations!! Do you have pics/website that you can share, perhaps via PM? (So that it doesn't get construed as inappropriate)...

I can't wait to see him. I was going to reply to your email this morning... cuz we must have similar personalities, cuz RILEY is PROBABLY the next one's name. (Not that there is going to be a next one anytime soon)... but I love that name. If I end up with a girl, then I like Darby Smile hehe...

anyhow... Can't wait to hear about Riley!!

Did I mention how wonderful you guys are?!

Thanks! Very Happy

And yes, he probably will be named Riley. I keep coming back to that. (I figured we were similar. LOL).

No pics yet, but there was one pic she said it was so similar to. I know she will send me pic in the next week or two (I hope). Anyway, the pics we (the breeder and I) discussed from her site were wonderful, and she spent about 2 hrs. on the phone w/me, I'm sure evaluating me as much as I was her. I can't recall where the pic is that she said was so similar. Hmm... I'll have to find that one too.

I'll see if I can find it and let you guys know. Thanks for asking.

(Oh, I got your email--thanks so much, mother of Bailey. Keep in touch).

It's a boy and a shih-poo, eh!!! Good choice (that comment coming from someone who owns not one, but TWO male shih-poos...I love 'em to pieces, the best if you ask me)!!! Mr. Green

A HUGE Congrats to you...how exciting!!!!!!!!

Your Riley sounds a lot like my shih-poo, Mickey! Mickey is all black except for a white stripe down his chest, and when the hair on his back paws grow out, the tips are white! Riley also sounds like one of our fellow Auspet member, PooGirl's, shih-poos.

Can't wait to see and hear all about Riley (love the name, by the way)! Very Happy

(I'm very sorry I didn't reply to your PM, I'll try and respond some time soon, hopefully! Wink )

Yay!!!! Another Shih-Poo mommy on the boards!!! Surprised

Congrats on making your decision and might I add that you've made a woooonderful choice for your companion! Having two Shih-Poos myself, I also think they are the BEST!

I love the name you've chosen for him too! I'd love to see pictures, if you have a web site that you can share (as Monster said, only via PM so that no one gets into trouble).

I'm very excited for you!!!! Your furbaby will be home before you know it!!

Congratulations on your little puppy. He sounds a lot like my Bella. She is black with a white stripe on her chest ond a little bit of white on her back feet and a really light white mark on her chin. Oh yeah she has a couple of little white hairs on teh very tip of her tail that is so cute. I hope you enjoy the new puppy.

Heck I think we all think alike. You know I told my husband a year or so ago, if we ever got another male dog we would name him Riley. How strange is that?
Blessed can't wait to see your pup. How old will he be when you get him? Seems you and I will be getting a pup about the same time.

Roxie's Shipoo ~ When I was typing my above message I kept thinking that there was another shih-poo on the board besides mine and PooGirl's that had similar looks to what Blessed mentioned, now I know it was yours (I remembered seeing pics of your shih-poo, but just couldn't remember at the time who's shih-poo it was)!!! Mr. Green

I know, your Bella is adorable! If you go to my profile and hit the "website", you'll see the pic of our new puppy (come the end of Nov.). We decided on the white Schnoodle. If you read the post "there's been a development", you'll see we changed our mind and did not go with the Shih-poo. Only 12 hrs. after we put down the deposit (even before we saw a pic) we got the call that our "dream dog" that we gave up on was available. So we went with that.

Take care!
