A Dog docked from birth is not clumsy and has no balance problems... Older dogs docked for medical reasons at an older age do tend to have some clumsiness...
Tails are a necessary means of communicating via body language... an ACD or other hearderusing his/her body language in a refined manner to get the job done so it would make complete sense on THAT level that the tails would and SHOULD be necessary for that job etc... Balance...that's an arguement that doesn't hold water unless it's concerning older dogs that have had their tails removed at a later time in life... I think most of the standards regarding tail docking and ear cropping are/were there for a working and legitimate reason... HOWEVER... there are plenty of folks cropping to crop and docking to dock without reason or for cosmetic and convenience purposes---nicknacks have a very short shelf life in my home with the APBT's... No way would I dock an APBT for any reason but the dog's health AFTER an injury has occured and all other possibilities for healing etc...have been exhausted...
I was wondering where you went Bronx and what ever became of your endeavor to get yourself a new dog... You'll have to let us know!!! |
