Hi Monster... just posted on the "Please vote for Molly and Emma" thread...
Just got back from dropping them off... this is just awful! I cried in the vet's office as I just couldn't hold it in. They took them one by one, Molly first... so, I gave Molly lots of kisses and handed her to the technician... watched her put my pumpkin in a crate..
Then, Emma... lots of kisses again and off she goes... into a crate of her own They have never been crated seperately, so, I feel so bad and hope they do okay. Maybe they'll put them next to each other so they feel safer.
Doctor should call around noon......... I can't even tell you how quiet my house is right now.. it's just me

oooooooooh bless your wittle heart!!!!!!! ((((((((((((HUG!))))))))))
I think I would have been upset over the separate crate too... which, of course, makes sense considering they won't want them to mess with each other (stitches and all....)... guess we never thought about that, huh?
Anyhow, I'm sure you'll be on pins/needles until noon.... hang in there, buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much Monster... I just got back from running a few errands, which helped keep my mind focused... Actually, one of my errands was to drop off the girls registration form for obedience class next month |

Okay........ just got a call from the doctor, the girls are doing fine and the surgery went very well!!
Ah...... mommy can relax now!! She told me to call back around 2:00 and they'll have a better idea of when we can pick them up today. They have dissolvable stitches just under the skin so we don't have to take them back to have any stitches removed ~ I am very happy about that!
What a relief........ |

I second Monster's words, bless your heart!!!!
It's wonderful to hear that the surgery went well, and they are doing just fine! Just think, it's all over and done now, no need to go through it again!
Speaking of stiches, my vet used a "surgical glue" to seal the incision, so I didn't have to bring them back to the vet to get any stiches removed, gotta' love that!!!
Give Molly and Emma lots of hugs and kisses from me!!! |

Thanks very much MyBaby!! The girls are going to get so many kisses when they get home they won't know what to do!!
I am soooo glad that it's over. I still don't like that I am not with them, but I'd rather them stay there until it's 100% safe for them to come home.
I was really hoping that they wouldn't have stitches that needed to be removed and was thrilled to hear that this was the case! |

Well, little Dixie just got back from her experience and they had to put in real stiches and I have to take her back in two weeks to have them removed. Does anyone have any comments on this process. Do I have to leave her? Will she be in pain? |

Dixie, it only takes a minute to take outthe stitches. Its painless. I know for a fact. Just keep them covered so she does not get at them. When wounds heal they get itchie.
Poogirl; are they home Yet. Whew, its done, all over with. |

| Sorry I have been off for a few and didnt know the girls were going in. Glad to hear all went well. Hopefully they had a good night home and recover nicely. I found when my dogs get fixed aloe and benadryl are a must. The aloe for itchy areas and possible razor burn if they had to shave. I also had to give one dog some asprin once, dont quote me on that might have been some other pain releaver its been a long time. Anyway rambling now, GOOD LUCK! Kisses for them! |

Thanks everyone for your thoughts
I meant to check in sooner, honestly, just busy taking care of my pumpkins. Today Molly is starting to act a bit more like herself. The day of the surgery I got them home about 3:00pm and they slept the rest of the day.. I tell ya, I don't know what was worse, dropping them off for the surgery or seeing them so out of it afterwards... broke my heart.
The day after the surgery, Emma was already jumping, playing w/her toys etc. Her personality is much different from Molly's and she is much stronger so it was no surprise that she bounced back quicker. Molly stood for the majority of the day (day after the surgery)... she would just stand there... getting sleepy.. but trying SO hard NOT to lay down. She's like Mommy, doesn't handle pain very well! Their scars look very good but I feel bad because every now and then they scratch the shaved area and they are giving themselves little scratch marks.
Just moments ago, Molly finally started chewing on a ball.. so, I think she is starting to feel better. They both were eating/drinking the morning after the surgery and no vomiting so I was very happy!
I bought them each a onesie (sp?) to wear at bedtime (when we couldn't watch them and prevent them from licking..), but, by morning those little stinkers were out of them! I guess where there's a will there's a way!
Here's a couple of pictures... 2 the day before surgery and a few after.. hopefully they work (of course you all know that posting pictures and me don't mix.. )
