Thank you Laura05, for your input. I know nothing much about horses. I figured I would have to come up with a breed. I have two breeds I looked up. As I sometimes watch western movies, I realized that people who road horse in the old west relied on their horses, to carry them over great distances, sometimes having to out run other riders. I began to wander if many horses suffered riding abuse. (just very curious)

1. Spanish Mustang
2. Tennessee walker

Thank you for your time and help.

In the movies, it's all fake. Very few horses can go flying down a hill and break neck speeds continously and not trip. Also, for ranch work, you would want a very dependable horse. spanish mustangs probally aren't really good for ranch work. I've never seen ones, but by the sound of their names, they porbally can't pull a calf up a cliff, but i don't know for sure. also, you would have decsribe average. tall or short? fit or not? young or old? muscular or not?

Horse_Child,

You've been very helpful, with your reply. Check out this link Iv'e provided for you. It give pictures, and literature on almost every horse breed on the planet.

http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses/

Or go to www.google.com (search engine) and type horse breeds. You'll see the same link I just provided above.

Thanks,

Mike
