My cat Zoomie has had off and on colds since we got him from the shelter. Antibiotics always fixed any subsequent underlying bacterial infection.

Then recently LOTS of gook was coming out of his nose. He was lethargic and not eating much. The vet prescribed the same antibiotics but after we were through with that course of pills he was not any better, in fact worse.

We took him back. His fever was 104.5 and he was not eating or drinking. They ran some preliminary test and saw that his urine was bright/dark yellow. They ran some more tests and said that he had liver counts (?). This indicated either cancer/tumor, poisoning or some infection unrelated to his upper respitory gook.

He is in the kitty hospital now getting an IV of fluid and medications for 2 days. They are doing an x-ray on him too.

I am worried about his liver. I read on the net that just not eating can cause liver dysfunction. THe vet didn't say that, he kepts saying "tumors".

Has anyone been through this? I am very worried about Zoomie. He isn't living up to his name right now.

Chata, I'm so sorry about your baby Zoomie. Crying or Very sad It sounds like they are doing the best they can to help Zoomie at the hospital. My thoughts are with you. What kind of tumors does Zoomie have?

They don't know if he has tumors yet. They suspect maybe he does because the high liver counts. I'll find out today.

Thanks for the reply

After many tests and about $1600 later, we find that Zoomie has Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) which is almost always fatal.

I am heartbroken. Crying or Very sad
