ok, now my red wagtail platy is getting fat, it is a female and she has gained exess weight and i havnt been feeding them allot. only a little food each day, just enough that they need. now i give this food that is shared between 3 neon tetras, 2 painted tetras and her. i also have 2 bottom feeders but they dont really ear any of the food. yet she has gained allot of weight since i vought her. i had another platy just as herself but a male. her waists have also been pink inststead of the usual white (i have been watching her the past few days) please help i dont want her to have a disease where she "pops" please reply asap!!!

if so she is prolly pregant

i hope so, i know it was a male because of the adomfin in the fish was small and the females was big and triangular. than the female was also bigger and fatter. the reason for asking is bacause of this one disease

may be not. i looked at a whole bunch of pictures and she looked like the same size as the average one

If there's a male in the tank there's a good chance she could be pregnant although my platy's are pretty fat and I only have 2 girls. As far as the waste goes it could be caused by the food she's eating. My platy's waste is usually a reddish color and the flakes I feed them are red, green and beige.

With my HOB filters I generally rinse out the media in a bucket of tank water every time I do a water change. Canister filters aren't quite as easy to get to so they get cleaned every 2 months or so.
