I don't post much here anymore but for those familiar with my cats...
Bean is not doing well and I'm so sad to think that I may not have him for much longer. The vets aren't sure exactly what the problem is but think it might be fatty liver disease or hepatitis.
Bean has always been a good eater so when I noticed he was eating less, I knew something was wrong. Then he started thowing up and then he didn't eat at all for 2 days, which is when I took him to the vet. He lost 4lbs, was dehydrated and constipated so they had to give him an enema. They kept him over night and did bloodwork & x-rays. The bloodwork came back abnormal, the x-rays showed something between his liver and stomache...vet said it could be a growth or just a thickening due to him not eating.
They sent me home with all kinds of meds...pills, injections, antibiotics, and SQ fluids. I've even had to force feed him. Yesterday the vet gave me an appetite stimulant to try for him...I'm really hoping it works. I hate doing all this stuff to him. It's been a tough week for both of us.
He is a great cat and the thought of losing him makes me feel sick inside but I don't want him to suffer either. He's only 9yrs old...it's just too soon for him to leave me. Sine he's still not doing well despite all the treatment, I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst.
Please keep Bean in your prayers this week...

Thanks girls. Yesterday and today he's been eating and drinking on his own. He still looks like he feels pretty crappy through.
Mary - he is 9yrs old. |

She is on appetite stimulants she can go every 4 days on those. Steroids 2x day. She lost half of her body weight in 5 months. She is 14 so I hope the best for your bean!!! Patches gets very lovey and purry on the stimulants and they act fast!!!! good luck and hang in there |

| I made the difficult decision to have Bean euthanized on Friday. He seemed to be only getting worse. He was the best cat. I'm so sad he is gone, I really miss him. |

I'm so sorry Nern. You did what was best for Bean. Hugs to you and your furbabies.
Sweet Presence By Joanna Fuchs
Today I'm often thinking of you,
And the loss of your special friend.
Those who have never had a pet
Cannot possibly comprehend.
A pet gives unconditional love
Nothing else can quite replace;
A sweet presence with its furry warmth,
That lovable, one-of-a-kind face.
You gave your pet a happy life,
With affection true and real;
I'm hoping you'll recover soon,
So your heart will mend and heal.
A Better Place By Joanna Fuchs
He's in a better place right now
Than he’s ever been before;
All pain is gone; he’s now at rest;
Nothing troubles him anymore.
It’s we who feel the burden of
Our sadness and our grief;
We have to cry, to mourn our loss,
Before we get relief.
We know we’ll reconnect with him
At the end of each life’s road;
We’ll see his cherished face again
When we release our earthly load. |

Nern, I am so sorry. I'm going to miss him too. You did the right thing. He is no longer suffering and is in a better place now. He had a great life and was so loved by you. He was one lucky cat. Hang in there. I know all too well how hard it is to lose a fur animal. |
