Been a Long time since I been here but I came looking for some release. I am starting to break down and just needed to let this out.

Pepsi is going to have to be put to sleep. She is about 15 and has started to lose control of her bowel movements and urination. 3 times this month she has had accidents in her sleep. She is losing weight and I think she is getting arthritis in her back and hips.
She has been a great girl and I do not want to see her suffer in pain or be unhappy any longer than is needed.
I have been preparing myself for this for a few months now but it is still hard to do. I can not decide if I want them to cremate her or if I want to bury her myself. My fear is that the other dogs may try to dig up the remains, or that I will someday move from this rental and leave behind her resting place.

Well that's all I have, can't say much more I guess.
thanks....

I am so sorry. I know how you are feeling. I have been there myself. You are doing the kindest thing for her out of love. She'll no longer be suffering. It's so hard to go through this. Often vets will come to your home and have your fur animal PTS there.

You could have her ashes, put them in a sealed container and bury it. Should you decide to move you can dig it up and bring it with you.

I'm so Sorry for you Mike. It's hard to lose a friend like that and most all of us know where you are at.

I agree with Chess that you could do the cremation and bury them etc... I think that would be best, considering your fears about moving etc.

So sorry to hear about this and we have all been there. I buried one of my cats at my moms house in the mountains thinking that she would be there and then she moved.... I took a wood headstone from it before she moved but didn't feel that it was enough and now I'm without her. Then with another of my kittens I cremated her and have her in a great wooden box on my bookcase with her collar and that gives me peace. When the sad day comes that I have to put any of my guys to rest I will do the same and have them with me. You can do whatever you want with the ashes bury them or keep them visible and if you move you simply take your family member with you! Good luck with this difficult but necessary task. Know that you have given her the best life possible and all the love you have for her to make her exit as peaceful as possible.

My thoughts are with you!!

Honestly guys thanks for the well wishes and advice but I think I am going to let the vets dispose of the empty vessel once she is gone. I am one that is not attached to the shell but what lived inside of it.

Their souls and memories are always with us.... They live on forever in our minds and in our hearts!! Keep those close to you and they will bring a smile to your heart and face when you need it. Remember all the kisses and wags of her tail, her happy prances when you came home, the snuggles.....

To all of our loved ones that have gone on to pave the way and wait to be reunited again.......we miss and love you Rest in Peace!!

Mike, I am so sorry to hear about Pepsi, I haven't been in here in ahwile either but do remember your posts and pics about her. She wll always ben in your heart.

I am struggling too. Wylie has recently been diagnosed with a liver disease that is most likely incurable and I am hoping I still have a lofof time left with her but every moment in now more precious than the last.

I'm so sorry for you. It is always a tough thing to go through, losing a dog. Especially an older one.
